Sunscreen. We all know this is the most essential product to wear on your face to prevent aging, yet sometimes we forget. Or, we don’t like the extra step, or we just can’t seem to find that perfect sunscreen. You know something that doesn’t look like you have a white coating on your face, something that you can actually wear under your makeup without getting too oily. I think I found that sunscreen btw…
Ok so this is how it all started. I needed to incorporate sunscreen in my anti-aging regimen. So, I thought why not find a face cream with sunscreen. Well, I quickly learned after doing some online research, that you need at least SPF 30 when it comes to sunscreen. As a refresher, SPF stands for sun protection factor, which basically measures the amount of time you can stay in the sun without getting burnt. SPF only measures UVB rays, you know the ones that will make you burn. A sunscreen should a broad-spectrum sunscreen that provides you protection against both UVA rays and UVB rays. UVA rays make us age and cause wrinkles. It is tough to find face creams with SPF 30 and over. Just go on Sephora’s website and narrow down face creams by SPF and you will know what I am talking about.
I have tried a few different facial sunscreens from Neutrogena and Ombrelle. The SPF is good, broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection but the product will either make me react, make my face oily (and I have dry skin) or just not sit well on the skin. I read some amazing reviews about Clinique Super City Block SPF 40 and decided to give it a try for myself.
Clinique’s Super City Block SPF 40 is an oil-free sunscreen. It is extremely lightweight and doesn’t give you that heavy feeling that you may experience with other sunscreens. It is almost like a moisturizer, so you could potentially just use it on its own, depending on your skin type. It goes on sheer, so no white residue! It absorbs quickly, and is really weightless. I layered my makeup on this (and this sunscreen was layered on top of my face cream) and I didn’t feel that I had too much stuff on my face. The best part, I didn’t react to it, no tiny pimples, and no reaction whatsoever. The Super City Block is supposed to be good for all skin types, and can also be used as a primer, which I truly believe, given the texture of this product! It also contains anti-oxidants, for added anti-aging benefits.
